“You must be the change you want to see in the world.”
If you change yourself you will change your world. If you change how you think then you will change how you feel and what actions you take. And so the world around you will change.
Not only because you are now viewing your environment through new lenses of thoughts and emotions but also because the change within can allow you to take action in ways you would not have – or maybe even have thought about – while stuck in your old thought patterns.
The problem with changing your outer world without changing yourself is that you will still be you when you reach that change you have strived for. You will still have your flaws, anger, negativity, self-sabotaging tendencies intact. And so in this new situation you will still not find what you hoped for since your mind is still seeping with that negative stuff.
As human beings, our greatness lays not so much in being able to remake the world, as in being able to remake ourselves.
When we are in a place where we try to uphold or cling to our old views to appear consistent while we realise within that something is wrong. It’s not a fun place to be. To choose to grow and evolve is a happier and far more beneficial path to take.
“I want to grow. I want to be better. You Grow. We all grow. We’re made to grow. You either evolve or you disappear.”
Tupac Shakur

The inner frontier can be a scary place to experience, but much of the juice, the wisdom, and the growth of life is to be found there.

Thank you Russ…I appreciate it. Julia
Your picture and the ideas reminded me of a plaque posted in the imaging office (where I went to have a bone density test done today). It was a similar train – and the words accompanying it said, “It’s not enough to stay on track; you have to stay ahead of the train.” Has a lot to do with motivation, don’t you agree? If you’ve got a train roarin’ down the track behind you, then the motivation to get movin’ would be pretty intense – and “the change within can allow you to take action in ways you would not have…” Oooh, ya!
Thank you for your comment Jan…You are staying ahead by making the test!.. being motivated and proactive, like you, is a far better way.Julia

Thank you for your thoughtful comment…I believe that our life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change and growth. Julia
