Choosing To Be Happy

‘Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.’
Groucho Marx

Happiness is a choice that anyone of us can make, For every minute we are angry or irritated, we lose 60 seconds of happiness.

As psychologist William James put it, ‘The greatest discovery of any generation is that a human can alter his life by altering his attitude.’

If we have the courage to admit when we are afraid, the ability to laugh even as we cry, the nerve to speak up, even if our voice is shaking, the confidence to ask for help when we need it, and the wisdom to take it when it is offered, then we have everything we need to get our self to a happier state of mind.

Be yourself. If others do not like it, then let them be. Life is not about pleasing everybody. Begin today by taking responsibility for your own contentment.

It is possible, even in the midst of hardship, to experience simple pleasures.

“Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.”
Anne Frank

    1. Thanks Ute….Glad to hear you choose happiness! I believe is not what we have or what we are doing that makes us happy or unhappy. It is what we think about it!
