“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald
Summer is here, it is great time to get out and enjoy yourself. Make this summer fun and memorable. Make it about discovering new places, trying out new things and being healthier.
Go outside. Visit your local park and take a picnic.
Revamp your barbecue menu. I am trying out new recipes for my summer barbecues. Try some meatless recipes and some tasty marinades for grilled vegetables.
Visit a farm. There is nothing quite like picking the fruit you love. Check out your local ‘pick-your-own’ farms.
Have a garage sale. De-cluttering and make a little cash never feels as good as it does on a beautiful sunny summer day.
Take a mini road trip. Even local places can bring out the fun and excitement of exploring a new place. There is probably a number of interesting places within a few hours of your home that you have never visited.
Read, read, read! Develop your own summer reading list – look on line or in your favourite book shop for suggestions. Commit to reading at least a couple of books this summer!
Start a new exercise routine. Summer is a good time to revitalise yourself. Swim laps at the local pool, take up an outdoor sport like tennis or golf, or go for long walks.
It is summertime, get out and enjoy it!
“summer, after all, is a time when wonderful things can happen to quiet people. for those few months, you’re not required to be who everyone thinks you are, and that cut-grass smell in the air and the chance to dive into the deep end of a pool give you a courage you don’t have the rest of the year. you can be grateful and easy, with no eyes on you, and no past. summer just opens the door and lets you out.”
