“The day is what you make it! So why not make it a great one?”
How do you begin your day? The way we start our day, affects our moods and behaviour, and therefore, how people relate to us. How we begin our day can make our day, or break our day.
When we wake up and stress is already upon us – phones ringing, emails and texts dinging. – we spend the whole day reacting, instead of being proactive. This can mean we are not in the driver’s seat working on our priorities – the things that drive success – we are simply responding to what gets thrown at us, whether it is important or not.
Try to have the first hour of your day vary as little as possible. A trusted routine can be extremely effective in helping you feel in control and non-reactive, which reduces anxiety and stress, and therefore makes you more mindful and competent. The bottom line is that how you start the day has an enormous effect on your overall effectiveness.
When we are happy, positive and in a good mood, we broadcast these vibrations around us, affecting other people and our environment accordingly.
“Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.”
