Self-confidence is extremely important in almost every aspect of our lives, yet so many people struggle to find it. Sadly, this can be a vicious circle: People who lack self-confidence can find it difficult to see good in themselves.
A good level of self confidence is vital for a happy, successful life so we are told. So how can we build a stronger self confidence that will leave us with that inner glow?
The most important ingredient for self confidence is liking yourself. If you ask yourself the question ’What are the things I like about myself right now and why am I glad I am me?’ These are difficult questions to answer at first until we get into the habit of appreciating our self, with practice it becomes more natural.
The quickest way to deflate ones well earned self confidence is to compare oneself to the wrong people. Do not put other people on pedestals. Forget comparisons, instead, choose great role models to follow, people who have qualities that you really admire and from whom you can learn.
In a world with a huge focus on negativity, idolised stereotypes, and hard-to-achieve body shapes, it is no surprise that the average person suffers from some degree of self esteem issue. The constant bombardment of advertisements, products to aid physical appearance, and negative beliefs regarding one’s unique character is part of the problem.
Remember to appreciate yourself for all that you do and are. Every time you appreciate yourself, you add another layer to your growing foundation of confidence.
