“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”
Optimism and confidence go hand in hand. Optimism leads us to believe in ourselves and our potential to bring about a solution. In this way, optimism leads to confidence.
Optimism as the expectation of a better future where we believe that our goals can be attained.
Optimism as a way of explaining negative events. Research shows that optimists attribute negative events to bad luck and external forces; while pessimists attribute them to personal failure and are therefore more likely to become demoralised and give up.
Whenever you catch yourself focusing on a problem, experiencing negativity, or feeling self-doubt, ask yourself this question: ‘What is one thing I can do differently that could make this situation better’?
The way to embrace optimism, positive thinking, and stay focused toward success is to get into the habit of looking for any improvement in the current situation.
Maintaining optimism is easier when you feel healthy. Lack of sleep, low energy from poor eating habits, and too little exercise are all things that effect our ability to moderate mood and positive energy.
Try doing your easier tasks very early in the day, before distractions get in the way. Succeeding rather than failing keeps you optimistic.
Be a rational optimist, who takes the good with the bad, understanding that being pessimistic about everything accomplishes nothing. Prepare for the worst but hope for the best!
“Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them.”
