Sometimes we are not really experiencing the moment, because we have developed a belief, based on our ideals, that we are not where we should be or want to be. But the truth is, where we are right now is exactly where we need to be to get to where we want to go tomorrow. Life is a journey.
It is our resistance to ‘what is’ that causes our suffering. Happiness is allowing our self to be perfectly okay with ‘what is,’ rather than wishing for and worrying about ‘what is not.’ This means our suffering only ever occurs when we resist how things are. We cannot control everything that happens to us; we can only control the way we respond to what happens. In your response is your power.
We can choose to be miserable and we will find plenty of reasons to be miserable. Or we can choose to be grateful and we will find plenty to appreciate. Are you skilled at making yourself miserable? With the same effort you can make yourself motivated, effective and fulfilled.
Rather than worrying about what might happen, commit and use your energy and intelligence to deal with what does actually happen. Things work how they are meant to be.
