‘Most of us spend our lives as if we had another one in the bank. ‘
Our lives are a large collection of single days, one after the other. For a part of my life, I lived each new day, but made little effort to make the most of them.
In the past few years, my views have changed. I have begun to view each day as an important gift. I have sought to embrace each one individually and discover the potential that it holds. I follow simple principles:
Wake up early. Early mornings are quiet, peaceful, productive, energizing… and my favorite part of the day.
Take exercise. Studies show that people who exercise regularly are happier, calmer, and better equipped to handle whatever the day has to throw at them. The benefits are experienced on a day-to-day basis, which means you can begin to benefit by choosing to exercise for just 20 minutes today.
We all have projects, work, and requirements for our time – things that we need to accomplish. Probably your to-do list is longer than you can accomplish in one day. But to make the most of today, choose one big thing on your list and do it first. You will get a great sense of satisfaction when it is done.
Our lives are more than flesh and blood. They are also mind and heart and soul. Find time each day to embrace gratitude, laughter and hope.
“Sometimes the little opportunities that fly at us each day can have the biggest impact.”
