‘Expecting too much in life will only make the heart and soul thirst, expecting less can surprisingly give you enough of what you need and want.. . .‘
We all have expectations, it is how we think things are supposed to be. There is this fantasy in our head about how we think things are supposed to be. This fantasy can blind us from reality and prevents us from appreciating the genuine goodness that exists in our life.
The solution? Drop the needless expectations. Appreciate what is…..but hope for the best.
When we stop expecting people and things to be perfectly the way we had imagined, we can enjoy them for who and what they really are.
And remember, not to let what you expected to happen blind you from all the good things that are happening.
When we set ourselves up with expectation we set our self up for disappointment. Take stock of the things you are grateful for and appreciate what is working for you.
”In our pursuit of the things of this world, we usually prevent enjoyment by expectation; we anticipate our own happiness, and eat out the heart and sweetness and worldly pleasures by delightful forethoughts of them; so that when we come to possess them, they do not answer the expectation, nor satisfy the desires which were raised about them, and they vanish into nothing.”
