“The most important opinion you have is the one you have of yourself, and the most significant things you say all day are those things you say to yourself.”

.
Self-esteem is having confidence in one’s own abilities, skills, talents, appearance, beliefs, emotions and behaviours,

.
People with low self-esteem are more likely to be anxious, depressed, and stressed are far more likely to be in abusive relationships. Increase your self-esteem and you will see an positive changes in how you feel, all of your relationships and become more productivity at home and work.

.
Tips on how to improve self-esteem:

.
Give yourself credit for your achievements and believe that you deserve the emotions that you feel.

.
Identify your positive qualities and keep that list with you to glance at anytime you start to feel negatively about yourself.

.
Face your fear. Doing something that you have been avoiding or that brings high anxiety can help you see your strengths and significantly increases self-esteem.

.
Exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet. Physical activity and diet affect mood and while watching an extra hour of TV or having an extra beer makes us feel better in a short while, it enhances low self-esteem.

.
Monitor your thought processes when you feel bad about yourself. Replace negative self-talk. Your inner voice whispers or shouts destructive thoughts in your mind. Thoughts like for example:

.
‘You are lazy and sloppy, now get to work.’ ‘You aren’t good at your job at all and someone will figure that out and throw you out.’ You do not have to accept this though. The next time you hear your critical voice, challenge the thoughts and prove them wrong, then replace it with more positive nurturing thoughts. You can change how you view yourself.

.
When you like yourself more, when your opinion of yourself goes up then you will stop trying so eagerly to get validation and attention from other people. And so you become less needy and your inner life becomes much less of an emotional roller-coaster based on what people may think or say about you today or this week.

.
Most people’s worst enemy are themselves. By raising and keeping your self-esteem up you will feel more deserving of good things in life.

.
Boiled down to its essence, self-esteem simply means accepting and appreciating yourself for who you are.

.
“The strongest single factor in prosperity consciousness is self-esteem: believing you can do it, believing you deserve it, believing you will get it.”
