Being Influenced

“If you believe that your thoughts originate inside your brain, do you also believe that television shows are made inside your television set?”
Warren Ellis

So many things can influence us, such as a TV advert, the opinion of a friend, or simply a familiar smell as we drive through our old neighborhood.

Many influences are affecting us every day. These are at the heart of our day-to-day choices, and have a far-reaching effect on how we live our life as well as whether we are satisfied or frustrated with our life, overall.

Whether through peer pressure, or a fondness toward someone, just being with other people can cause you to eliminate some choices as options and make other choices much more likely for you to choose.

What we are seeing, touching, tasting, or even smelling can influence how we perceive our environment and how we feel, emotionally. Sensory feedback is hitting us constantly and can cause us to feel as it did in past experiences, both good and bad, without us knowing why we feel the way we do.

What goes through our mind when making a decision is often subtle and easy to miss, but very powerful. The things you say to yourself in your head can empower you or make you feel completely powerless. reflects your inner most feelings.

We are constantly being influenced by what goes on in our head and what is happening around us in the media. By being more aware of how you are influenced can help you think for yourself and make better decisions.

Just by being more aware of the sources of influence on you will help you begin to select what is right for you…..Stop and look at what is influencing you today.
