The Habit Of Fear

”Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears.”
Les Brown

Fear is often the barrier that holds us back from getting and becoming what we really want and are capable of achieving.

We usually see fear as an enemy, to be defeated or it will defeat us. Yet in reality, fear is a part of us, and therefore we should not try to ‘destroy’ it. It cannot be destroyed, because while we can dissipate one particular fear in one particular moment, we will still have fears after that.

Instead, we can be aware of the fear. When you are struggling, suffering in some way, be aware that is fear that stopping you. When you can see how the fear is hurting you and how that hurt is self caused….you can let go of the suffering by trying to let go of the fear.

Think about what is the worst-case scenario. Would you be okay?

When you stop to appreciate yourself, and others, and life at this moment… can be grateful for the opportunities that this moment has brought, rather than fearing the change it represents. Doing something difficult is an opportunity to create or do something good, and change is always a great opportunity for learning and growth.

With this thinking, we can work with the fear that is causing our problems. You can accept it, limiting it, putting it into perspective, without letting it stop you

Next time your are afraid of a situation, change your perspective and see it as an opportunity to learn and grow.

Fear is a habit, so is self-pity, defeat, anxiety, despair, hopelessness and resignation. You can eliminate all of these negative habits with two simple resolves,” I can! and I will!”
