No Victim

“You can either be a victim of the world or an adventurer in search of treasure. It all depends on how you view your life.”
Paulo Coelho

Do you ever feel like the whole world is working against you? Your car won’t start. You spilled coffee on your favourite shirt. Your children don’t respect you. Your boss doesn’t appreciate you. Your friends do not return your calls.

A person with a victim mentality tends to find it impossible to live a good life in the present. Yes, people may have done you wrong. In fact, they will continue to do you wrong and even if you do, bad things are bound to happen from time to time. But thinking that you are the victim in all this and being unwilling and unable to take part of the blame will leave you helpless and unable to take positive actions in your life.

Stop it. Stop acting the victim and blaming people and fate for the negative things that have happened to you. Blaming others may provide temporary relief from our pain, but in the long run, it will lead to feelings of powerlessness and hopelessness.

Look at yourself in the mirror, ask yourself (regardless of how you feel): What is my role in this situation? In most cases, you will see that you have the power to choose your response. Will you let go or hold a grudge? Will you be hopeful or helpless?

If you are feeling like a victim, you may struggle with low self confidence. You may think that self confident people are born, not made. Yes, some people are naturally more self-confident than others, but self confidence can be taught and improved upon in any one of us.The best way to begin is it is to emulate confident people. Dress well, hold an upright posture, speak clearly, make eye contact, and exercise.

Act confidently. Your internal state will begin to match your external actions. Do not underestimate your power. You are more powerful than you think.

“Today is a new day. Don’t let your history interfere with your destiny! Let today be the day you stop being a victim of your circumstances and start taking action towards the life you want. You have the power and the time to shape your life. Break free from the poisonous victim mentality and embrace the truth of your greatness. You were not meant for a mundane or mediocre life!”
