With More Value

“We cannot think of being acceptable to others until we have first proven acceptable to ourselves.”
Malcolm X

Do you accept yourself as you are? I have been asking myself that question recently. Accepting yourself for who you are is hard. It is hard to be 100% happy with yourself. So we always strive for change. There is a fine line, a balance that needs to be struck.

It is important to understand the difference between self acceptance and self improvement if you are to discover your real value. Self acceptance starts with the awareness that you are whole, innately good; lovable just as you are; and endowed with talents and qualities you can share with the world.

Self improvement can cause us to overlook our true nature. But remember, no amount of self improvement can make up for any lack of self acceptance.

Say to yourself ‘‘I accept myself. I love myself. I forgive myself for what I didn’t know until I learned it.”…….If you tried it, how do you feel? Maybe a bit lighter and happier? Love yourself. Approve of yourself. Accept yourself.

There is a choice in every moment, between acting out of love, or out of fear. At any time you can stop and look at the moment and it is clear which action is which. We tend to make a habit out of choosing one or the other….  choose to recognise  value. There is value  to be found in every person, object, place and moment, but you may miss it if you hold faults to be more important.

Today focus on finding the endless value in the world around you and it will be easier to find the  huge amount of value in yourself.

“You can be the most beautiful person in the world and everybody sees light and rainbows when they look at you, but if you yourself don’t know it, all of that doesn’t even matter. Every second that you spend on doubting your worth, every moment that you use to criticize yourself; is a second of your life wasted, is a moment of your life thrown away. It’s not like you have forever, so don’t waste any of your seconds, don’t throw even one of your moments away.”
