“Every day, you reinvent yourself. You’re always in motion. But you decide every day: forward or backward.”

James Altucher

Nothing stays the same forever. In a world where things are always changing, sometimes you have to think about who you are and where you are at and decide whether or not it is time for a refresh, a total change in direction.

If you want to change the direction of your life, begin by identifying the ‘ingredients’ that would make you happy.

Begin by sitting quietly, close your eyes, and imagine the people, places, or situations that you need to leave behind.  Now imagine the future that you want, whether it is simply a feeling, a group of people, or a situation such as a wonderful new job.

Imagine a scene from it, or write about how you would like it to play out. Where are you living? What do you do in the mornings, afternoon, evenings? Who are your friends? What do you spend your days doing?

Reinvention is neither easy nor always smooth. Often we encounter resistance. We do not want to let go, even of things that cause us pain or that are obviously already out of our grasp. We often struggle with limiting beliefs or stories about ourselves that hold us back from trying new things.

Then, no matter what you feel in the moment – lonely, self-critical, tired, lazy, or disappointed – do something today to maintain momentum, begin with one small thing. Choose courage instead of letting your fear choose your future for you.

Your biggest goals are possible, and with the right mindset you can realign your very existence to become the person you need to be to achieve them.

What can you do today to take your life evolving?

“Just as established products and brands need updating to stay alive and vibrant, you periodically need to refresh or reinvent yourself.”
Mireille Guiliano
